SHIATSU
Shiatsu was first practiced in China and Japan over 2000 years ago. During its incarnation, the philosophy and techniques behind Shiatsu largely stemmed from an Eastern form of healing called anma which was used to heal various ailments, aches and diseases.
Shiatsu consists of a finger-pressure technique that utilizes the traditional acupuncture points of Oriental healing. Similar to acupressure, Shiatsu concentrates on unblocking the flow of life energy (chi) and restoring the balance in the various meridians (energy pathways) on the body. When these meridians are unblocked, the major body systems and organs they represent are encouraged to heal and attain perfect balance.
Shiatsu massage is performed with the client in a reclined positon, fully clothed and without the use of oils or creams. The massage therapist or Shiatsu practitioner then applies varying degreees of pressure with fingers, thumbs, palms, elbows or knees to specific zones on the body that are located along the energy meridians. The Shiatsu treatment brings about a sense of relaxation (and sometimes a feeling of euphoria) while stimulating blood circulation and lymphatic flow.
The benefits of Shiatsu massasge: improves the circulatory system, improves flexibility to the muscular system, facilitates in the digestive system, improves the endocrine system, regulates the nervous system functions. This, in turn, strengthens the body's resistance to disease and disorder.
REIKI
REIKI (pronounced ray-key) is an ancient, hands-on method of natural healing. It activates, balances and increases the life force (chi) within our bodies and restores the body's natural ability to heal itself.REIKI is performed by the touch of the hands, allowing the flow of vital life force to the client via the REIKI certified practitioner. REIKI is used to relieve pain, reduce stress, strengthen the immune system, re-balance the functioning of the organs and eliminate toxins from the body. REIKI calms the mind and emotions, aids in concentration, helps in the grieving process and generally accelerates the body's own healing processes on all levels--physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.
When an individual's (chi) is disrupted, weakened or blocked, emotional or physical health problems tend to occur. Imbalances can be caused from many situations occurring in our lives, such as: emotional or physical trauma, injury, negative depletion, destructive lifestyle and relationships, neglect of self love or love for others, from emotions that are not expressed in a healthy way. REIKI works in conjunction with all other medical and therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.
REIKI is practiced in many countries of the world. REIKI is being used in hospitals, hospice and in self-care.
It is a wonderful complementary therapy in any healing or wellness program.

REFLEXOLOGY
Reflexology is an ancient healing art based on the principles there are reflexes in the hands and feet that correspond to every muscle, bone, organ and system in the body.
How Does Reflexology Work with the Body?
Pressure techniques are applied to the feet or hands and interacts with the body's nervous system creating relaxation, allows the client to experience the benefits of touch, improves circulation and relaxes the nervous sytem.
Pressure sensors in the hands and feet are a part of the body's reflexive response that allows for the "fight or flight" reaction to danger.
Hands are ready to fight and Feet are ready to flee communicate with the body's internal organs--(adrenal glands) to allow the action to take place. The sudden adrenal surge that allows a person to lift a car is an example of this coordinated activity.
The perception of pressure by the feet and hands taps into the reflex network that makes possible all our moves.
Reflexology that is consistently applied, provides an exercise for these pressure sensors and helps to create a conditioning of the internal organs and systems to which they are tied.
Techniques Used in Reflexology
Pressure is applied to the feet and hands using specific finger, thumb and hand techniques. Stretches and movement techniques are used to provide relaxation to the foot/hand.
Reflexology may be experienced in a 30, 45 or 60 minute session.
